asked the Secretary of State for Air if he has now completed his studies on the Shackleton replace- ment; when he intends to ask for design studies; and if he will make a statement.

The preliminary studies on the Shackleton replacement are not yet completed. I cannot, therefore, give any information at this stage about detailed design studies.
