HC Deb 16 July 1963 vol 681 cc25-6W
44. Mr. Lawson

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works how many staff of the Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance are in State House, Holborn; and why they were not dispersed outside London.

Mr. Rippon

264. These are headquarters and London Regional staff whose work I am assured requires them to be in the London area.

46. Mr. Millan

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works how many personnel are occupying State House in Holborn; and whether he is satisfied that none of them could be dispersed to the provinces.

Mr. Rippon

1,429. The possibility of their dispersal can only be considered as part of the current general review carried out by Sir Gilbert Flemming.

47. Mr. Willis

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works why an Admiralty recruiting office has been established in State House, Holborn; and how many staff are employed in the office.

Mr. Rippon

My right hon. and noble Friend the First Lord of the Admiralty wishes to establish one central recruiting office in London. The present scattered offices are not achieving the best results. The accommodation in State House is available and will be very suitable. The new centre will employ a staff of thirty-seven.
