§ Mr. Ian Gilmourasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether the United Kingdom has ratified the International Coffee Agreement, 1962, Command Paper No. 1841; whether the Agreement has yet entered into force; and when the first session of the International Coffee Council set up under the Agreement will take place.
§ Mr. SoamesThe United Kingdom's ratification of the International Coffee Agreement was deposited with the United Nations on 25th April, 1963. The Agreement entered into force provisionally on 1st July, 1963, with the deposit of ratifications, or notifications of intention to seek ratification, by countries representing 80 per cent. of world coffee exports and 80 per cent. of world imports. The United Nations is convening the first session of the International Coffee Council to open in London on Monday, 29th July.
