asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why it is necessary to open a clinic for the treatment of venereal disease in Dunoon; to what extent there has been an increase of venereal disease in the district during the last three years; what expenditure is to be incurred; and to what extent the local authority is to be reimbursed for any expenditure incurred.

The clinic is being provided to avoid the need for patients142W having to travel to Greenock. Separate statistics are not maintained for Dunoon or for the Cowal district. Capital expenditure of about £1,000 and running costs of about £250 a year will be met by the Regional Hospital Board; and local authority expenditure of between £80 and £100 a year will be reckonable for general grant.
