§ 27. Mr. G. M. Thomasasked the Minister of Power what emergency measures are proposed to maintain an adequate supply of gas for essential purposes in South Wales; and whether he is aware of the industrial consequences in the area caused by the present fuel crisis.
§ Mr. WoodI am very sorry that the Board had to suspend supplies to industry; pressures are now back to normal. The Wales Gas Board has arranged for emergency deliveries of butane to many of its works, and it is being helped by extra supplies of gas from steel industry coke ovens. Additional gas making plant will be working by next winter, and a further large plant will be commissioned during the following winter.
