Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the unemployment caused in Aberdeen shipyards by the recent reduction in orders for shipbuilding, ship-repairing and engineering; and what steps he has taken during the last four months, and now plans to take, to solve this problem.
§ Mr. MarplesShipyards in the Aberdeen area are facing the same difficulties as those in the rest of the country, and I have no special measures in mind for them. The orders which they have recently obtained should improve prospects for employment in the coming months.
