§ The Attorney-GeneralThe following table shows the cost of legal aid for civil proceedings and the numbers of people who received it in each of the last three years. It is not practicable to apportion the expenditure incurred by the Law Society in its administration of the legal aid and advice service and the amounts shown include the relatively small expenditure attributable to the administration of the Legal Advice Scheme and incurred in dealing with payments to solicitors employed in criminal cases in the magistrates' courts.
