§ 73. Sir P. Agnewasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state the numbers of men employed in the yard at Bailey's, Malta, Limited, on the repair of ships, vessels and small craft in each of the years 1960, 1961, and 1962, respectively; and what proportion of those numbers was engaged upon such repair work for the Admiralty.
§ Mr. SandysI am not able to give figures for the three years, but I understand that at the beginning of this year94W the total number of men directly employed on the repair of ships was approximately 2,600 and that of these about 2,000 were engaged on Admiralty work.
§ 74. Sir P. Agnewasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies to what extent he estimates there will be a diminution of employment in the dockyard of Bailey's, Malta, Limited, in the event of the deferment in sending Admiralty ships, vessels and small craft for repair there being continued until the end of the present year; and whether he intends to arrange for other employment to be provided.
