§ Mr. Thorpeasked the President of the Board of Trade how many additional jobs have been provided at Camborne by John Heathcoat & Co. consequent upon the undertaking referred to by the President of the Board of Trade on 26th June, 1962 and 12th July, 1962.
§ Mr. ErrollAs my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary Board of Trade has explained in correspondence and in discussion with the hon. Gentleman, the company did not undertake to provide additional employment at Camborne. In the course of the examination of their application to develop at Tiverton, they disclosed that they proposed to transfer some of their activities from Tiverton to Camborne. This was one of several factors influencing the decision, but it was not decisive and it was not a condition of the grant of a certificate for Tiverton. The reasons for the grant of the certificate were explained in a reply I gave to the hon. Member for Battersea, North (Mr. Jay) on 2nd August, 1962.
