§ 43. Commander Purseyasked the Minister of Labour if he will state the number of men in the shipbuilding and 3W marine engineering industry in Hull who were unemployed on the last available date; and how many he estimates are unlikely to find a regular job in the city and will seek employment in the south of England.
§ Mr. WhitelawAt 14th January, 295 men who were last employed in shipbuilding and repairing and 10 men from marine engineering were registered at the Hull Employment Exchange. I cannot make any estimates, but I am afraid prospects for these workers locally are not good at present.
