asked the Minister of Labour what was the number of persons registered as unemployed at the employment exchanges of Motherwell and Wishaw on the latest available date; and what percentage increase over the corresponding date in 1961 this represents.

Mr. Whitelaw

At 14th January there were 1,842 workers registered as unemployed at Motherwell and 1,775 at Wishaw. These figures represent increases of 88.2 per cent. and 102.2 per cent., respectively, over those for January, 1961.
