asked the Minister of Labour what steps he is taking to avoid the threatened strike at Ford's, Dagenham.

Representatives of the unions have been invited to an early meeting with my officers far the purpose of informing me on the latest developments in this dispute. This meeting will be followed by a similar talk with representatives of the company. I will consider what action I can usefully take in the light of these discussions.
