§ Sir W. Bromley-Davenportasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of public anxiety over the increase in vandalism; and whether he will instruct the police research and planning branch to inquire into the extent of the damage caused, to what extent vandalism is increasing, and what steps can be taken to prevent it.
§ Mr. BrookeI share the general concern at the increase in the amount of vandalism. I know that the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis is taking most active steps to combat it, and I understand that chief constables all over the country are doing the same. I doubt whether a special study of the statistics of the problem would add to our knowledge of the means of dealing with it.
