HC Deb 04 December 1963 vol 685 cc182-3W
78. Mr. Clive Bossom

asked the Minister of Transport what steps he is taking to ensure that there are sufficient qualified traffic engineers available to local authorities to enable them to undertake the transport studies required by the Buchanan Report.

Mr. Marples

I believe the universities and colleges of technology offer sufficient facilities for the study of traffic engineering to meet a rising requirement and that further courses will be started when the demand exists. Meanwhile my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government and I are proposing to issue a joint bulletin giving general guidance to local authorities on urban traffic engineering techniques.
