§ Mr. Boydenasked the Minister of Education if he is aware that over the past ten years more than 10,000 children have been intensively coached for the 11-plus examination by means of commercial correspondence courses; and what action he proposes to take to deal with this situation.
§ Sir E. BoyleI have stated publicly that I deplore coaching for selection tests and local education authorities do all they can to discourage it. I do not think there is any action that I can usefully take at present, but I am sure the matter will be considered by the Central Advisory Council for Education which is to consider primary education in all its aspects and the transition to secondary education.
