§ Mr. Albuasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he is aware that many organisations concerned with the advancement of science are not aware of the precise procedure they should follow with regard to applications to their rating authority to reduce or remit their rates under Section 11(4) of the Rating and Valuation Act, 1961; and whether he will issue guidance to rating authorities on this subject.

JosephThere is no set procedure and, as different rating authorities may require different information to enable them to reach a decision in a particular case, I do not think that I could usefully offer guidance on the form which applications should take. I suggest that the organisations should ask each rating authority concerned what information they require in support of an application.
