§ Mr. Holtasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he proposes to take to strengthen the Central Statistical Office in order to provide the up-to-date and comprehensive information required for the efficient planning of economic growth.
§ Mr. BarberThe Central Statistical Office has already been authorised to recruit more statistical staff, and increases have also been approved for other branches of the Government Statistical Services. So far it has not 79W proved possible to fill all the vacancies, but arrangements for recruiting suitable stall who would receive further training in statistics thereafter are under consideration.
