Mr. Mason

asked the Secretary of State for War how many soldiers serving with the British Army of the Rhine have been flown home during the past twelve months because of injury, serious illness or for other urgent reasons.

In the twelve months ending the 30th September, 1962, 534 soldiers were evacuated by air from the British Army of the Rhine for medical reasons of all kinds. In the same period 2,358 men were flown from the British Army of the Rhine to the United Kingdom for compassionate reasons.
