HC Deb 25 October 1962 vol 664 cc192-4W
Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department by what ratio the number of indictable offences known to the police in 1961, which involved wounding, exceeded the corresponding figure for 1960; what was the corresponding annual average figure for the 1935–39 period; and what proportion of males convicted of wounding were sent to detention centres in 1961.

Two per cent. of males convicted in 1961 of felonious or malicious wounding were committed to detention centres; persons over 21 are not eligible for a detention centre sentence.
