HC Deb 25 October 1962 vol 664 c209W
Mr. Hale

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance how much may be set off as reasonable expenses by an insurance officer in order to arrive at the net maximum permitted earnings of a dependent wife.

Mr. N. Macpherson

If the hon. Member has in mind the expenses that may be taken into account in deciding net earnings for the purposes of dependency increases of benefit, there is no fixed amount; it is for the independent adjudicating authorities to decide what is reasonable in each case. They will be guided in this, as in other matters, by published decisions of the National Insurance Commissioner.
