asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the total cost of detaining Dr. Soblen in prison, hospital, and elsewhere from the date of his arrival in the United Kingdom until his death here.

The estimated cost of detaining Dr. Soblen in prison was about £96, and that of detaining him in Hilling-don hospital from 1st to 6th July and from 6th to 11th September was, on the basis of the latest ascertained average costs at that hospital, £43 10s. 0d.
