HC Deb 21 November 1962 vol 667 cc132-3W
60. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he received the communication from the Northumberland Anglers' Association about losses of salmon from rivers; and what reply he has sent.

Mr. Scott-Hopkins

This communication was received on 5th November. My Department wrote to the Northumberland and Tyneside River Board on 7th November, inviting their comments, and their reply is awaited. It has therefore not yet been possible to reply to the Federation, but I regret the omission to acknowledge their letter.

NOTE:
For the 1957 and 1958 crops the guaranteed price was the average of the support prices payable throughout the season by the Potato Marketing Board and the Ministry of Agriculture for Northern Ireland to the individual grower for potatoes of the required standard offered to them (in fact, none was offered in those years).
Since 1959, the guarantee arrangements have been based on a deficiency payment system. If in respect of any crop year the average price received by all growers in the United Kingdom for potatoes sold for human consumption is less than the guaranteed price, a deficiency payment is payable to the Potato Marketing Board for the benefit of growers in Great Britain and to the Ministry of Agriculture for Northern Ireland for the benefit of growers in Northern Ireland.
