HC Deb 19 November 1962 vol 667 c88W
Captain Kerby

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether officers of the National Assistance Board are empowered to disclose their identity to the landladies of assisted persons and to discuss or comment on individual cases.

Mr. N. Macpherson

The National Assistance Board informs me that it regards the preservation of the confidentiality of its officers' transactions with applicants as of great importance and that it is therefore not the practice for its officers to disclose their identity to landladies or to discuss cases with them without the applicant's consent, unless the circumstances are quite exceptional.
