HC Deb 14 November 1962 vol 667 c50W
54. Mr. J Howard

asked the Minister of Transport what plans he has for the improvement of road communications with Southampton, in view of the Rochdale Committee's proposals for this port.

Mr. Marples

The Rochdale Committee's recommendation was that the road communications of Southampton with London, the Midlands and the West should be improved. The London-Basingstoke motorway, together with appropriate improvements to A.33, will in due course provide an excellent route to London. I am considering what should be done about the link with the Midlands and the West.
