HC Deb 31 May 1962 vol 660 cc152-3W
Mr. F. M. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies (1) what is Her Majesty's Government's policy on the future of Karasuk territory, presently administered by Uganda, although de jure a part of Kenya;

(2) how he proposes to maintain road communications between the Kitale and Lodwar Districts of Kenya after independence is granted to Uganda, as the present highway between them runs through Karasuk, presently administered by Uganda.

Mr. Maudling

The future of the Karasuk is under discussion between the Governments of Kenya and Uganda. The question of maintaining road communications between the Kitale and Lodwar Districts of Kenya after Uganda has achieved independence is also being considered.
