Thomasasked the Prime Minister whether the public statement by the Minister of Education at his Press Conference on Friday, 18th May, 1962, in Manchester, concerning the employment of auxiliary helpers in primary schools to enable very large classes to be run, represents the policy of Her Majesty's Government.
§ The Prime MinisterYes. The purpose of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Education's scheme for auxiliaries is to help qualified teachers to deal with the large numbers of children who will be coming into the infants' schools.
