Brownasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will ensure, as recommended by the Streatfeild Report, that persons accused of criminal offences or their legal advisers are provided with the reports of the Prison Commissioners on their suitability for various kinds of punishment.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerIt is already required by the Criminal Justice Act, 1948, that a copy of any report or62W representations in writing made to a court by the Prison Commissioners on the physical and mental condition of an offender and his suitability for a sentence of borstal training, corrective training or preventive detention shall be given, by the court, to the offender or his counsel or solicitor. The recommendations of the Streatfeild Committee do not involve any modification of these provisions.
