§ Mrs. Castleasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received from the Supreme Ruler of Barotseland for the kingdom to be permitted separation within the Central African Federation.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe Litunga of Barotseland, during the recent visit of my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations, stated that it was the desire of the Barotse people to become a separate State with its own constitution within the Federation, and no longer administered as part of Northern Rhodesia. Similar representations were made by him to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Colonial Affairs during his visit to the Federation last December.
