HC Deb 02 March 1962 vol 654 c186W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the total yield of duties and taxes levied on hydrocarbon oils in 1961, or in the most recent year available, in the United Kingdom; and, in view of the negotiations for the United Kingdom's entry into the Common Market, if he will take steps to obtain the same information in respect of West Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy, distinguishing between heavy and light oils.

Mr. Barber

About £480 million in the calendar year 1961. Information about the different levels and forms of duty is regularly received, but it does not lend itself to the simple comparison envisaged in the second part of the Question.
