HC Deb 01 March 1962 vol 654 c177W
Mr. Warbey

asked the Minister of Power what is the total capital cost of the Sizewell nuclear power station; and what is its estimated useful life.

Mr. Wood

The total cost of the Size-well nuclear power station, including the initial fuel charge, is expected to be £71.5 million. The life of the station cannot at present be accurately predicted, because there is little experience of operating a nuclear power station. For accountancy purposes, a life of twenty years has been assumed.

Mr. Warbey

asked the Minister of Power what is the estimated annual output of the Sizewell nuclear power station when it is in full operation.

Mr. Wood

The estimated output of the completed station operating at 75 per cent. load factor would be 3,810 million units.
