HC Deb 01 March 1962 vol 654 cc161-2W
Mr. Randall

asked the Minister of Education what original allocation for minor works fox 1961 to 1963 was made for the Borough of Gateshead; what was the revised allocation; and why such reductions have been made.

Sir D. Eccles

I announced last July that allocations for minor works would have to be reduced as part of the Government's financial measures. The original allocations covering all minor works to the Gateshead L.E.A. of £15,000 for 1961–62 and £10,000 for 1962–63 have been replaced by one of £20,000 for the eighteen months ending on 31st March, 1963. The Authority has discretion to carry out works costing less than £2,000 without counting them against the revised allocation.
