HC Deb 01 March 1962 vol 654 cc170-1W
Mr. Speir

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many complaints the Metropolitan Police have received of actual or threatened assault of the drivers of minicabs during the past nine months; and how many of these were known to have been made by the drivers of licensed taxicabs.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The police have received twenty-two allegations of assault and three of threatened assault. In none of these cases did the police have evidence on which to base a prosecution of a taxi-driver for assault or threatened assault.
