§ 55. Sir L. Plummer
asked the President of the Board of Trade what action he has taken to ensure equal facilities for imports from all countries signatory to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in the event of the United Kingdom joining the Common Market.
§ Mr. Erroll
The European Economic Community is a customs union, to which special provisions of the G.A.T.T. modifying the most favoured nation principle apply. The treatment of imports from other countries will depend on the outcome of our negotiations, on which I can make no statement.
