§ Dr. Strossasked the Minister of Health whether he will take steps to ascertain how many infants were found at birth to show deformities due to the taking of the hypnotic drug thalidomide by women in the early stages of pregnancy.
§ Miss PittThe deformities due to this drug cannot always be distinguished from those due to other causes. The number of deformed, births could not be ascertained without a detailed examination of hospital and other records, which I do not consider would be justified.
