§ Mr. Farrasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will cancel the order placed by the Metropolitan Police for the supply of 18,000 torches from the United States of America, so that the firm in Leicestershire, details of which have been sent to him, which supplies torches to three-quarters of the British police forces as well as many forces overseas, may first be asked if it can satisfactorily fulfil this requirement of the Metropolitan Police.
§ Mr. RentonNo. I have written to my hon. Friend explaining the circumstances in which this order for 16,000118W (not 18,000) torches was placed, and I am informed that most of them have already been delivered to the Metropolitan Police.
