§ Dr. Strossasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether the pneumoconiosis boards accept lung cancer among haematite miners as an occupational disease, in view of its high incidence amongst these men.
§ Mr. SharplesThe pneumoconiosis medical boards are independent statutory authorities set up under the Industrial Injuries Acts solely to determine in accordance with the provisions of those Acts relating to pneumoconiosis whether claimants for benefit are suffering from the disease and if so the loss of faculty due to it. They have no powers in relation to any other disease.
