HC Deb 16 July 1962 vol 663 c18W
Mrs. Butler

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what investigation has been made by his Department into the probable causes of serious deformity in piglets born in the Pennines; and how far these deformed births result from the effects of nuclear tests.

Mr. Vane

I have seen a Press report about deformed piglets born recently on a farm near Halifax. Deformities at birth occur occasionally in all animal species from a variety of causes. One of the Ministry's veterinary officers is investigating and I will let the hon. Member know of his findings.
