§ 66. Mr. Patonasked the Minister of Defence if he will take steps to protect minors in the Armed Services from the attentions of salesmen of hire purchase goods who exercise undue pressure; and if he will take steps to limit and control the present uncontrolled entry of these salesmen to Her Majesty's service establishments.
§ Mr. WatkinsonI am satisfied that my right hon. Friends the Service Ministers, who are aware that it is against the best interests of young Service men to be granted excessive credit facilities, have power to control the entry of tradesmen into Service establishments and are prepared to use it if necessary. Undesirable practices by tradesmen would constitute good grounds for withholding permission to trade in such establishments.
