§ 63 and 64. Mr. Swinglerasked the Minister of Labour (1) to what extent the Industrial Health Advisory Committee of his Department has discussed the rôle of his Department in the development of a comprehensive industrial health service; what conclusions have been reached; and what recommendations have been made to him;
(2) what consideration he has given to the proposals contained in the pamphlet, The Future of Occupational Health Services, sent to him by the British Medical Association; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. HareThe proposals in the pamphlet envisage a comprehensive service under statutory authority. A development of this kind has not been discussed by the Industrial Health Advisory Committee. The Government's policy is to encourage the development of industrial health services on a voluntary basis. The experimental group schemes now being set up with the help of the Nuffield Foundation will provide further information on the subject.
