86. Mrs. Butlerasked the Minister of Works how many square feet of office accommodation in London are occupied by Government Departments; and what proportion of this accommodation is occupied by staff directly involved in the day-to-day work of Parliament.
§ Lord John HopeExcluding the Post Office, Government Departments occupy about 15½ million sq. ft. of office accommodation in the Greater London area. Of this total, some 11½ million sq. ft. is used for Headquarters offices, whose staff are concerned in varying degrees with the day-to-day work of Parliament. The balance of the space is occupied by local offices.
