The EARL OF HARROWBYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, in making up medicines to a prescription, the widespread practice of retail chemists in not labelling the bottle with the name of the medicine and only entering "Same as before" under the heading "Dose", is considered as safe or desirable.
§ LORD NEWTONThis is a professional matter. The Government understand that it is contrary to accepted medical and pharmaceutical practice for the chemist to write the name of the medicine or the words "Same as before" on the label unless the doctor's prescription instructs him to do so.
House adjourned at a quarter past six o'clock.
