HC Deb 20 February 1962 vol 654 cc35-6W
91. Mr. Randall

asked the Postmaster-General what are the reasons for the shortage during the past year in the central telephone area of London of equipment such as private automatic branch exchange switchboards, 10 and 15 pair lead cable, telephones types 232 and 332, block terminals and cords; and what inconvenience has been caused to the public by such shortages.

Mr. Bevins

The shortage of some types of telephone equipment has been due to the difficulty of adjusting stocks quickly enough to meet unprecedented increases in demand. I am sorry about

programmes dealing with resale price maintenance while this subject is under consideration by a Board of Trade committee.

Mr. Bevins
