§ Mr. Dempseyasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the results of his discussions with the Coatbridge Town Council, regarding the adoption of a scheme to remove the Monkland Canal; and when he proposes to make a start with this project.
§ Mr. MaclayThe town council is considering a preliminary report by engineering consultants on piping and infilling the canal within the burgh. It is for the council to decide whether it wishes to proceed with the project; when the council submit a suitable scheme I shall be glad to discuss with it what grant will be payable.
