HC Deb 21 December 1962 vol 669 c273W
Sir G. Nicholson

asked the Postmaster-General what arrangements he has made to appoint a chairman of the Independent Television Authority.

Mr. Bevins

The Government have decided to defer the appointment of a new Chairman until consideration of the Television Bill by Parliament is further advanced. Meanwhile the Deputy-Chairman of the Authority, Sir John Carmichael, will continue to act as Chairman for the next few months, and I am very grateful to him for his willingness to undertake this responsibility.
