64. Mr. J. T. Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that betting shops are greatly increasing in numbers, and that there is growing abuse of the provisions of the Betting and Gaining Act in connection with continuous betting; and if he will review the hours of opening of betting offices, with a view to making regulations to curtail them.
§ Mr. BrookeThe hours of opening of betting offices were fixed having regard to the views expressed in debate during the passage of the Betting and Gaming Bill and to the demands of people wishing to place bets. I think it is too early to consider taking action to alter them.
