HC Deb 19 December 1962 vol 669 cc195-6W
88. Mr. Ainsley

asked the Minister of Transport if the additional money allocated to road development in the north-east excludes the Tyne tunnel project and the Darlington bypass scheme, now in progress.

Mr. Marples

The additional Government expenditure of about £750,000 for major road development in the North-East which I announced on 27th November in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Sunderland, South (Mr. P. Williams) excludes these two schemes. The speeding up of the road programme which will result in a doubling of the total expenditure on major road development in the North-East in 1963–64 as compared with 1962–63, which I referred to in that reply, does however take account of the two schemes.
