HC Deb 19 December 1962 vol 669 c198W
Mr. Rankin

asked the Minister of Transport what embargoes or other restrictions are imposed on the export to China, the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, respectively, of ships, including trawlers, tankers and cargo vessels.

Mr. Marples

The principal types of ship which are subject to embargo for the Sovietbloc and China are warships, tankers over 18 knots, fishing vessels over 17 knots and other vessels over 21 knots. The full list was published in the Board of Trade Journal of 28th September, 1962. These restrictions have not so far frustrated any orders for our shipyards.
