Mr. Roy Mason

asked the Minister of Aviation how many civil servants in his Department during the past 10 years have waived any part of their pension rights when accepting posts in industrial firms within two years of their retirement from the Civil Service.

Mr. Amery

I know of no such case. Almost half of the civil servants in my Department who obtained permission during the last 10 years to take up industrial appointments resigned before reaching the age of 50: no pensions are payable to officers who resign before reaching that age.
