§ Mr. Spriggsasked the Minister of Power if he will give a general direction to the National Coal Board to stop tenant evictions until alternative accommodation can be found, thus avoiding hardship to families.
§ Mr. WoodNo. This is a matter for the Board. In several coalfields it has an urgent need for miners' houses. Men who leave the industry voluntarily know they may not be able to occupy the Board's houses indefinitely, but each case is examined individually and possible hardships are taken into account.
