HC Deb 17 December 1962 vol 669 cc142-3W
Mr. C. Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why supplies of rice and flour are in short supply in St. Helena.

Mr. Fisher

For just over a week at the end of October certain foodstuffs were in short supply as a result of a combination of the failure of the island's potato crop and the delayed arrival of a cargo vessel bringing supplies. Supplies are at present adequate and a reserve stock is to be built up.
